splish splash

Scrub a dub dub, I need to get in the tub...I got into some markers (luckily washable) and wrote all over my face! Wrote on mommy's face too, but we had fun!

the last few weeks

Pics from yesterday...grass is dead due to reseeding in the desert!

Okay, okay so its been a couple weeks since I have posted anything new. I told myself I wouldn't go past a week--but like I mentioned before I tend to go in waves when it comes to taking pictures. Its amazing--I look at pictures that were taken today in comparison with those from a few weeks ago and I can see a difference. They change and learn so much at this age. Every day she is picking up new words--she is very inquisitive, pointing to EVERYTHING and asking, "Whats that?" It is wonderful that she wants so badly to learn--even if it can be a bit repetitive and annoying at times...
Today for the first time she said "Bless You" after I sneezed--we always say it, (Chris more than me) so she must have picked it up from him! Way to go Dad! She also recognizes the Charger symbol--and says "Chargers" when she sees them on TV--then she follows it by "Go Go Go!". She definitely learned that one from him too--quite the Daddy's girl.

I could go on and on and bore the hell out of you with her list of accomplishments (dare I mention she has already claimed political partisanship?? Now that she gets from her mother--hehe!)
My week consisted of heading out of town for the night to see Tina Turner in concert with my dear friend Courtney. It was my first night spent away from Makena--and as much as I love her to death, it was a much needed trip! Thanks Courtney!!

Chris put Makena to work when I was gone watering the palm tree, notice half of it has gone down her front!

Gotta love the desert sunsets!

playing dress-up

We went over to a new friends house today and had so much fun! Mom, Holly and her 3 year old daughter, Peyton had us over for lunch and a play date! Holly is a professional photographer and has a photo studio in her house, so we played dress up and messed around in the studio. I absolutely love the pictures, but wish I would have done something cute with my little ragamuffin's hair! We should have modeled one of Holly's bows that she makes--they are adorable! You can find them by going to www.peytonsplaceboutique.com

picture happy

I tend to go in waves when it comes to taking pictures--it will be every day for like a week and then nothing for several weeks. I don't know why that is, but here are a few more from yesterday.

fore!

We went out to play on the golf course today--Makena seems to really like it! Chris usually goes out there in the evening after all the golfers are done for the day so he can practice chip shots and putting. Now Makena has taken a liking to being out there at the same time with Daddy. We came across a duck who was obviously no stranger to people or golf balls because he came right up to us even as we putted the balls right past him. He was not phased...until Makena went running for him yelling "Ducky!!"

our camping trip

We just got home from a week of camping in Doheny Beach--we used to go there starting when I was about Makena's age. So we decided it might be a fun place to revisit. We went with my parents, my sister and her boyfriend and had a site right on the beach. It was a great time, but a little tough with a 15 month old--there is not much relaxing when you are constantly making sure she doesn't meander into the fire, or eat dirt, or fall off of something she decides to climb. Not much napping took place that week--too much action I suppose! And this kid normally thrives on sleep--at home she tells me she is ready to take a nap and goes right down no problem. So you can imagine how cranky she was come evening time! But overall it was a good trip, I am sure we will do it again next year.
