december...where has it gone??

I know its been awhile since I have posted, so I am going to put a random mix of pictures that I have taken over the month. Nothing too exciting has happened--just getting ready for Christmas and can't believe it is only two days away. Where has the month gone??? We are leaving tomorrow to spend Christmas at the ranch with Chris's parents, so I will surely have pictures to share when we get home. In the meantime, here are a few random pictures...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Lounging on the couch...watching the Pistons beat the Lakers...

Makena is obsessed with feeding the dogs now--she has her first chore around the house!

As you can see, she loves to be naked. What a ham...

We finally had grass put in the backyard--wow what a wonderful invention! The dogs actually like being outside now!!

thanksgiving

My family came out to visit us for Thanksgiving since Chris always has to work on Thanksgiving night. So our tradition for the last few years has been to dine in the restaurant on Thursday, and cook the full traditional dinner on Friday so Chris can partake in a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal. It works out pretty well--although, probably a little more fun for the guys who spent every day playing golf. But I can't complain, we all had a great time. Thanks for spending the holiday with us--I can't wait until you all move here!

beach day

We went over to the coast for a few hours because Chris had a quick meeting, so we decided to take the dogs with us and let them play on the beach before heading home. Of course the dogs were in heaven, but so was Makena. It was not her first beach experience, but I think it was the first time she actually enjoyed it! She ran up and down the beach chasing the dogs and waves, collecting rocks and shells, and admiring the constant influx of birds that encircled us. It is amazing how much we take for granted, and being with a child who is discovering the elements of nature for the first time really allowed me to appreciate it. Our trip was short, but well worth it!

She just loved running after the dogs as they played--sometimes she would get right in the mix of several dogs and not realize that they could knock her down. That girl has no fear!

Picking up shells and then going for a little jog down the beach. Be back in an hour...

Uh-oh! What happened?? "I fall down water" is exactly what she said after getting pummeled by a wave. She cried for a second, but then wanted to go back in. Don't know where she gets it--I would have been done after that! It was quite amusing I must admit; Chris and I couldn't stop laughing, I wish we had brought our video camera!

boo hoo

Well, as we all know by now, Obama has been appointed President Elect for our country. Many people know I was a strong supporter of John and Sarah, but hats off to Barack for winning the long and exciting race. I suppose I have to swallow our political differences and support him, since he will be our next president. Not that I am in love with Bush by any means, but it disgusts me how people are so critical and disrespectful towards him; I will support our Commander in Chief no matter who he is. I just hope I don't have to say "I told you so..." when our country is headed for socialism.
Even though I have to accept it, I still don't understand it. I suppose it was inevitable since people were so fed up with some of Bush's policies--they were looking for a change, any change and have run blindly in the opposite direction. Well, if they are asking for change, we will certainly get it. But there are not a whole lot of people who know why they voted for him other than that (both from personal experience and hearing these idiots in exit polls.) They are unaware of the changes that he proposes to make. Then again, how can you not win the presidency when you bribe people with free money, health care, etc...unfortunately, nothing is free. But I will be rooting for him, because we are all Americans and it serves our best interest to come together and stand behind him. So I wish him all the best in the next four years...

our weekend

I was a little under the weather this weekend, so that was a bummer, but what can you do?? There was too much planned, so I had to suck it up. Halloween, was of course Friday night, then Saturday was a fall family picnic that a few of my friends planned. Took a few of these pics before heading over to the park...

Aunt Kristi also came out for a visit--but I felt like I was such a bore! Sorry Kristi that I wasn't 100%, otherwise we would have been at the clubs all night long--haha!

trick or treat!

Well, today was Halloween and we hardly had a moment to stop and breathe! We went to two parties--one at My Gym with some of her friends, and later to a huge festival at a local church with more friends. There had to be 1000 kids there, 10 bounce houses, food, candy--just pure craziness! Needless to say we didn't last too long there--maybe about an hour, and then we headed home for a little trick -or-treating around the neighborhood. She started to get the hang of it--even saying "Ticker Teat" and then grabbed handfuls of candy to put in her little pumpkin. She was EXHAUSTED when we came home, and was out like a light within 2 minutes of putting her down! But we had a fun-filled day (even though I have been sick and feel awful, but what can you do?) Anyway--check out our day of fun here!
